Balkar hunger-strikers offered to stop their action

The group of Balkars who are holding a hunger strike in Essentuki near the representative office of the NCFD (North-Caucasian Federal District) was visited by Alexei Verbitskiy, federal inspector in Kabardino-Balkaria, who offered them to go home.

The group of hunger-strikers includes Tamara Gerieva, Husei Kuliev, Kharun Zammaev, Buzzhigit Uyanaev, Keziban Ulbasheva, Aishat Ulbasheva and others.

They said that they were going to continue their protest action, in spite of heat, and numerous inconveniences. The protesters, as they said, sit on benches in tree shadow, and suffer from heat. At night they sleep on the same benches in turn. They eat bread and drink water.

They also said that an ambulance is on duty not far from them; and they are guarded by militiamen.

Some participants of the hunger strike have health problems, in particular, leg swelling. Doctors say that this is a symptom of protein insufficiency.

Let us note here that this group of Balkars is on hunger strike in Essentuki for 24 days. Another group of Balkars is on hunger strike in Moscow, in the Manezhnaya Square since July 7.
