Saakashvili's words on customs officers had no racial context, his press service says

The statement of President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili addressed to customs workers had no implied sense of racial discrimination, said Manana Mandzhgaladze, his press secretary.

The explanation placed in the website of Georgian President notes that "President's slips of the tongue in the Georgian language have never been used in the racial context," and "some mass media have willingly and deliberately given wrong interpretation and racial connotation."

In the opinion of Giya Khukhashvili, an expert on energy issues, President of Georgia "often talks to the wind, without thinking about the sense at all." He told it in the context of Saakashvili's statement that "Georgia and Azerbaijan should establish confederative relations, since their relation are more than interstate ones." This statement has already caused polemics among Georgian politicians and experts.
