Abkhazia to take part in the next round of Geneva negotiations

As stated on July 23 by Sergey Shamba, Prime Minister of Abkhazia, his republic would take part in the next round of Geneva negotiations on safety and stability in the Caucasus to be held on July 27.

Earlier, on June 23, Abkhazia declared its temporary departure from negotiations with Georgia on safety in Transcaucasia. At the last consultations the Abkhazian party expressed its discontent with the actions of moderators of the debates - the EU, UN and OSCE.

"We stated that should this biased attitude of moderators to these consultations continued, we'd lose interest in them. In this context, we then held some negotiations. We decided to go to this meeting, but later we'll see whether they have drawn conclusions from our statements or not. If not, we surely see no sense in taking part in the debates, where moderators unequivocally take the side of Georgia," the "GHN" quotes Mr Shamba as saying.

He also emphasized that the issue of recognition of the republic's sovereignty by other countries is no longer topical for Sukhumi, the "Georgia Today" writes.
