Authorities in Grozny count more than 800 houses in an emergency state

The Chechen authorities intend to address the federal center with a request to increase the quotas for implementing the program of pulling down old and repair houses, and building new ones. Within Grozny alone, 843 houses are recognized to be in the state of emergency and hazardous for living. Grozny residents express dissatisfaction with the quality of construction works and report that the repair performed is often a facelift.

"According to specialists, there are now 843 houses in the city which belong to the category of emergency state and old ones. The problem is that pulling down of houses in the state of emergency and repair of old buildings requires extensive resources which are not available in the republic's budget. Despite this, the republic's authorities do everything possible to help the residents living in emergency state houses", tells an employee of Grozny administration to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

As an example, he cites the fact of starting the construction of new dwelling in the Stroitelei settlement of Zavodskoi district in Grozny.

The problem of old dwelling was also discussed at the sitting of the republic's leadership together with ministers and representatives of city authorities held on July 1 in Grozny.

Addressing the attendants, Ramzan Kadyrov stated: "The republic is within an earthquake zone. Additionally, the two war campaigns have inflicted serious damage. The facade does not guarantee that the house which has lived through bombing may not crack. There are thousands of old and emergency state dwelling blocks of flats in the city. We need the quotas for the Chechen Republic to be increased". Then participants of the sitting came to the conclusion that it was necessary to address the federal authorities on the issue.

Meanwhile, Grozny residents express dissatisfaction with the quality of construction works, while some of them report that they have to live in emergency state houses. "Repairs in our house started last year. They replaced doors and windows and performed a cosmetic repair, but that was all", says Kakha, resident of the Chechen capital.
