Head of HRC "Memorial" assumes trial on Chechen president's suit to take place in Autumn

The trial on the criminal suit on slander of Chechen president will probably take place in Autumn this year, states chairman of HRC "Memorial" Oleg Orlov after the interrogation held on July 6.

"I have come to the interrogation along with my lawyer Henry Reznik", said Oleg Orlov to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "We have been shown a decision on my involvement as a defendant, with which we have got acquainted. I said I wanted to inform the investigation about some errors in describing certain facts".

Yulia Khatchenkova, investigator of the Investigation section of Investigation department under the internal affairs agency of Moscow's Central administrative district, suggested that the human rights activist should do it during the interrogation. This was what was done. The errors were related to the sequence of presenting certain events.

Now, in the opinion of the human rights activist, there are two options: either the criminal case is dropped due to lack of corpus delicti, "which, of course, is unlikely, but theoretically is possible - the lawyers will apply for this".
 
The second option - an indictment will be drafted to be sent to the prosecutor's office.

"Everything went down normally", asserts Orlov. "At this moment, there is no measure of restraint. I can not decide on what is going to happen but it is probable that the trial will take place in Autumn".

Krasnenkov phoned to Ramzan Kadyrov on the eve of Oleg Orlov's interrogation: "Ramzan Akhmatovich is satisfied with the situation. Hopefully, by the end of the Summer or beginning of Autumn everything will be completed".

Andrei Krasnenkov thinks Orlov is to get at least a conventional term because he "intentionally slandered Ramzan Akhmatovich". "I am going to prove it in court very simply, within five minutes. The evidence is solid, therefore I feel well", concluded the lawyer.
