Amnesty to Ingushetia militants prepared in NCFD

Scores of people may come under the amnesty for militants in Ingushetia, the draft of which is going to be soon submitted Dmitri Medvedev, reports Kaloi Akhilgov, press secretary of Ingushetia president Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

According to Evkurov's representative, the amnesty "will allow those who made a mistake and accidentally found themselves among members of illegal armed units to come out of the forest and return to normal life".

The draft amnesty is being prepared in the president's embassy in the North Caucasus Federal District, states Akhilgov in the live program of radio station "Russian News Service".

According to him, "the history of a similar amnesty in Chechnya yielded good results, so why not use the same methods in Ingushetia if they promise to yield appropriate fruit". Akhilgov also states that Medvedev will probably approve the draft amnesty.

Note that, in July 2006, amnesty was announced for members of armed units in North Caucasus. Its term expired on January 15, 2007. According to various power agencies of Chechnya, from 430 to 470 former members of armed units and their accomplices voluntarily laid down arms during the amnesty period on the republic's territory.
