Photo exhibition of the life of Kurds and Ezides in Kuban opens in St-Petersburg

On July 4, an exhibition of documentary photos "Rooted out" by Yuri Ivaschenko on the fate of Batumi Kurds and Ezides in Krasnodar Krai is to open in St-Petersburg.

Krasnodar Krai has become a new place of residence for Kurds and Ezides after they had to leave their homes, runs the statement of the human rights center "Memorial" about the exhibition, submitted to the "Caucasian Knot" editing board.

The author of the photographs to be exhibited at the exhibition has been visiting several Cossack villages of Apsheron district, Krasnodar Krai, for a year, where he photographed the everyday life, traditions and rituals of the two nations.

"This nation has been relocated by hundreds of thousands of kilometers against their will. I wanted to show both good and bad aspects of their life," says  Yuri Ivaschenko. "A lot of everyday life passes by and we have no time to pay attention to many events which are not covered by news and information releases".

A similar exhibition was held in Moscow from March 1 to 14.
