Union "Erkir" is against resettlement of Adzharia residents to Armenian-inhabited regions of Georgia

On June 25, the union of public organizations for repatriation and development named "Erkir" made a statement calling the authorities of Armenia, international agencies and diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia to take steps towards preventing resettlement of Adzharians to the regions of Georgia, where Armenians live.

Currently, the Georgian authorities continue resettling the families, which suffered from natural calamities in Adzharia, to the eastern part of Georgia. Fourteen families from the Adzharian district named Khulo, who suffered from landslides, have already received houses in Gorelovka village in the Ninotsmind District of the region Samtskhe-Dzhavakheti, where Armenians live.

At present, already about 50 families resettled from high mountains Adzharia live in Gorelovka. As reported by the TV-Adzharia, the apartment houses for them were purchased by the Ministry for Refugees' and Resettled Persons' Matters of Georgia.

"The process of settling Adzharians in Armenian-populated areas of Georgia is an obvious step towards changing the ethno-demographic situation in Dzhavakhk," runs the statement of the "Erkir" Union as quoted by the "News-Armenia" Agency.
