Georgian territory from Gori to Tskhinvali is de-mined

On June 18, the organization named "Help of Norwegian People" finished de-mining of the area from the city of Gori (Georgia) to Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia. The territory, which was full of cassette mines after the August war, is now completely cleared.

The above Norwegian organization started de-mining in September 2009 with the help of local authorities and international organizations. In October 2009, they finished de-mining of Kvemo Nikozi settlement, and in August - of Kvemo Khviti village of the Gori District. The latter was stuffed with 57 cassette bombs and 37 unexploded mines; all of them were neutralized, the "New Region" writes.

In total during this time the territory of 941,901 square meters was de-mined, and, according to the "Georgia Online", a total of 107 cassette mines, 131 unexploded articles and 2000 small-calibre combat units were found and withdrawn.
