In Rostov-on-Don, organizations "Young Europe" and "Rainbow Syndrome" complain of provocation

The Rostov-based branch of the organization "Young Europe" and association "Rainbow Syndrome" deny their participation in appearance of the letter disseminated in Rostov-on-Don allegedly on behalf of the local LGBT-community (LGBT - lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transvestites). Activists of these organizations assert their names and phone numbers were used by someone for forgery.

The letter sent to electronic addresses of Caucasian communities and Diasporas runs, in particular, about the intention to hold a series of actions in the city aimed to propagate non-traditional relations and consider the issues of actualization of the role of sexual minorities in the system of state power bodies and popularization of unisex love.

Alik Mikaelyan, head of the Rostov-based "Youth Assembly for United Caucasus", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had telephoned Konstantin Baranov, head of the "Young Europe", who explained that neither he nor his colleagues were the authors of the strange letter.

Nevertheless, on June 23, the News Agency "MIA" hosted a roundtable "Protest of Rostov public organizations against popularization of non-traditional sexual relations".

"The speakers at the roundtable jointly draw up recommendations on duly interaction of public organizations, mass media and governmental bodies towards prevention of such provocations in the future. We decided what public initiatives could help the bodies of the state in case of possible appearance of social tension after this sort of provocative actions," said Alik Mikaelyan.

Meanwhile, Rostov-based mass media report about the incident as follows: "The Caucasians who live in Rostov are indignant: they were addressed by lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transvestites (LGBT-community) with an appeal to jointly resist manifestations of xenophobia in the society."

"It's a provocation!" Seidulah Magomedov, chairman of the Dagestan Diaspora in the Rostov Region, is convinced. "We have no discrimination and infringement of gays' rights here, our society is very tolerant. Against what and with whom are they going to struggle?" the "161.ru" writes.

As a result, the debaters gave rise to a version that the letter was disseminated by someone interested in destabilization in the region. However, who exactly this someone could be was not specified.
