President of Dagestan takes Sapiyat Magomedova's case under personal control

Ombudsperson in Dagestan Ummupazil Omarova went to hospital to visit lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova, who was beaten by employees of Khasavyurt GOVD (City Interior Department). According to Ms Omarova, President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov has ordered to bring those guilty persons to responsibility.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Ombudsperson's office that in the context of publications in mass media Ms Omarova has visited Sapiyat Magomedova, a lawyer of the Bar "Omarov and Partners", who is taking her treatment in hospital.

Magomedova told her that on June 17 bodily injuries were inflicted to her by employees of the Khasavyurt GOVD. Besides, according to the lawyer, the timely medical aid was not rendered to her, as the ambulance was not let to the territory of the GOVD.

The results of the visit to Sapiyat were reported by Ummupazil Omarova to President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov during their personal meeting.

"President of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov took this case under his personal control. The respective bodies were ordered to hold a careful and unbiased investigation of the facts and to bring, on the outcomes of the inquiry, the guilty persons to the responsibility as stipulated by the law," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the office of Dagestan Ombudsperson.

Besides, the Ombudsperson sent respective applications on the fact of the lawyer's beating to the Dagestan Public Prosecutor Andrei Nazarov and Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Magomedov.

Let us note here that today the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" received copies of the republic's hospital discharge certificate, where on June 18 Sapiyat Magomedova was brought. Earlier, right after the beating, on June 17, she was placed into the central district hospital of the city of Khasavyurt. According to the certificate, she was diagnosed to have brain concussion, bruises and grazes of soft tissues, and a thorax trauma.
