In Georgia, defence of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia files complaint to ECtHR

Advocate Keti Bekauri, who is defending the interests of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, the son of the first president of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia, said that the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) should put pressure on the authorities of the country.

Ms Bekauri told about her plans to send a special application to the ECtHR in the context of the case of her client, whose state of health, according to the lawyer, "causes serious fears." She does not exclude that Tsotne's hunger strike may end with a "fatal outcome."

The lawyer believes that the defence of the son of the first president "has exhausted all the remedies inside of the state," the IA "News-Georgia" reports.

According to Ms Bekauri, as prescribed by the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), the defence has the right to expect some recommendation from the ECtHR that will oblige the authorities of Georgia to make everything necessary to save Tsotne Gamsakhurdia's life.
