In Ingushetia, Khamzat Tsechoev released on recognizance

On the evening of May 19, a member of the Ingush human rights organization "Mashr" Hamzat Tsechoev, whom law enforcement officers had sized in his house, was released on recognizance in Magas militia department, where he was kept for more than twenty-four hours, his sister Zarema said.

"Since he had to pledge not to leave, we can not understand why he was sized and what they wanted from him. My brother is very depressed, and his physical condition is also poor.  But he says nothing of what has happened to him in the militia department, probably he does not want to upset us", Tsechoev's sister said.

On 19 May, after a night searching in the village of Pliyev in Ingushetia, the law enforcement officers seized a local resident Khamzat Tsechoev and took him to an undisclosed direction, and his elderly mother and niece had to spend the night on the street. The officers did not let them into their house, insulted them and threatened to shoot Khamzat, if family members would not confess certain crimes. Moreover, the Tsechoev household was robbed and fired.

The Tsechoevs have already twice appealed to the republican prosecutor's office and the investigating committee, but no reply received. In the militia department, their request for comment on the case was also denied to them.
