Chechnya: explosion with a victim

In Grozny, a local resident found an unknown explosive device in the yard of his own house and was heavily wounded when it blew up.

"On April 25, at about 8:00 p.m., in the Oktiabrskiy District of Grozny, in the so-called 'District 12', a local resident found a suspicious object in his yard. He treated it carelessly, and the bomb blew up, causing plural wounds of his extremities and body. He was hospitalized in grave condition," a militia officer said.

"The fact is now checked. Operative agents try to find out how the self-made land mine could get into the yard of the private house and establish the circle of persons who could be involved in the incident," the source has added.

According to the UNICEF, during the two military campaigns, more than 700 peaceful residents were lost in explosions of bombs and mines in the territory of the Chechen Republic. About two thousand persons received wounds and mutilations.

Several such incidents were registered in Chechnya within the last year. At the same time, soldiers and law enforcers are still killed and wounded in explosions of self-made bombs and other explosives. In three weeks of April only, 8 federal servicemen were lost and wounded by explosions in the territory of Chechnya.
