Dagestan resident reports mass detentions in Kara-Tyube

Today, Khanmagomed Magomedov, a resident of Kara-Tyube village, Babayurt District of Dagestan, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the Babayurt ROVD (District Interior Division) illegally holds 17 persons for several days, including two women detained during searches.

"On April 15, early in the morning, the village was blocked by hundreds of militaries, who arrived in dozens of vehicles and ATCs (armoured troop carriers) with unjacketed machine guns. They surrounded the household of Patimat Nuridinova; then, an intensive skirmish burst out; one person was killed, who was subsequently announced to be a militant," said Mr Magomedov.

In the afternoon, targeted searches and detentions of villagers began. "They detained 18 persons, including three women; one of them is pregnant. One of Nuridinova's sons - Pakhrudin Abdullaev - was taken away to Kizlyar. His house was searched twice, at first they nothing, but then power agents declared that he kept two grenades at home. My three brothers - Isa, Magomed and Zagir - were also arrested," said Khanmagomed Magomedov.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the local MIA that they have no information about detention of Kara-Tyube residents, while the Babayurt ROVD refrained from comments.
