Chechnya: three servicemen killed by explosions

Yesterday, on April 15, two explosions were triggered in the Achkhoy-Martan District of Chechnya, as a result of which, as reported by law enforcement bodies of the republic, three servicemen were lost and one more wounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported earlier that on April 12 another explosion happened in the Kurchaloy District of Chechnya where, as law enforcers report three militiamen suffered.

The first explosion happened when militaries of the Russian Ministry of Defence were engaged in their reconnaissance and search actions. According to law enforcement bodies, an unidentified press-on type explosive was triggered.

The explosion killed a deputy commander of the scout unit, an ensign born in 1974; he died in situ. Two contract servicemen, born in 1982 and 1984, were wounded and brought to hospital. One of them died on the way, as the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

Besides, when the victims were evacuated, the second explosion was triggered. "As a result, the commander of the above scout unit also died on the way to the hospital," the ITAR-TASS quotes a source in law enforcement bodies.

  • Court releases Malgobek law enforcers accused of extortion

    Three policemen from Ingushetia, accused of using violence against a detainee and extortion, have been released. The Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia has explained that the period specified by law for the preliminary investigation had expired and their further detention is illegal.
