Khazbiev's brothers are under recognizance not to leave Ingushetia

On April 9, Makhmud, Ali and Berd – brothers of the Ingush oppositionist Magomed Khazbiev – were summoned for interrogation to the MIA of the republic as suspects in the case about beating of Kaloy Akhilgov, press secretary of President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov. After interrogation, they signed recognizance not to leave till the end of the investigation.

"My clients are indicated in the victim's application as executors of beating; therefore, the inspector summoned them to interrogation. He's doing his work. We've taken the stand: he, who accuses, should prove; and the inquiry continues," said Mussa Pliev, Khazbievs' advocate.

According to his story, he and his clients were afraid of arrest; however, the fact that the criminal prosecution of the Khazbievs has received broad resonance not only in Russia but in Europe caused its positive effect.

Magomed Khazbiev himself is inclined to believe that the prosecution of his family is political. He thinks that the republic's leaders try to deprive him of the opportunity of his oppositional and public activities; therefore, they have a dig at his brothers, who are his securities at the same time.

Bashir Khamkhoev, head of the Investigatory Department of the MIA of the Republic of Ingushetia (RI), refused to talk to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on the point.
