Insurance Fund: patients are happy with medical institutions of Chechnya

The Territorial Fund of Mandatory Medical Insurance in the Chechen Republic has held a sociology poll and announced by its outcomes that the overwhelming majority (76 percent) of Chechen residents are satisfied with the medical aid available.

Questionnaires were spread in ten treatment-and-prophylactic establishments. In each of them, 500 respondents were polled. According to the source, out of 5000 respondents, 76 percent expressed their satisfaction with the quality of health services. 6 percent were dissatisfied, while remaining 18 percent were at a loss what to answer.

The Ministry believes that the poll has shown that the working quality of treatment-and-prophylactic establishments in Chechnya has considerably improved in recent years, same as the level of rendered health services.

Meanwhile, in private talks local residents of Chechnya quite often complain of the work of the medical system. Marking that the treatment-and-prophylactic establishments of the republic have been recently repaired and provided with new equipment, people complain of the survived practice of bribe-taking by the medical staff.

"It's not enough just to restore hospitals and stuff them with new equipment. It's also necessary to train good specialists and - the most important - to eradicate bribery in hospitals. Otherwise, nothing will change," said Salavdi Dashukaev, a pensioner from Grozny.
