Armenians and Turks to discuss genocide's causes and implications in Ankara

The meeting of Armenian and Turkish intellectuals, forthcoming on April 24-25 in Ankara, will discuss the issues related to causes and consequences of Armenians' genocide in the Ottoman Turkey.

The meeting is organized under the initiative of the Turkish public organization "Freedom of Thought of Ankara" and will be dated to the 3rd anniversary of the murder of Grant Dink, a Turkish journalist and native of Armenia. Armenian and Turkish intellectuals and scientists from other countries will take part in the event. In particular, the events will be analyzed, which had led to the genocide of 1915, as well as its consequences, including the issues of lost Armenians' property, policy of denying the fact of genocide in Turkey, and other issues.

According to Sait Chetin, a Turkish human rights activist, the problems existing between the two countries can be solved only through dialogue. Temel Demirer, a Turkish writer, said: "This sort of dialogue is very important from the viewpoint of ensuring peaceful future. We, as representatives of Turkish intelligentsia, want to face the truth."
