Two Russian servicemen who disappeared in South Ossetia found

Two Russian soldiers, who were considered as disappearances since the warfare in South Ossetia in August 2008, are found. This was stated today by General-Major Alexander Kirillin, head of the Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation for Commemoration of Perished Homeland Defenders.

Let us remind you that until now the fate of four soldiers who took part in warfare remained unknown. The total number of casualties among Russian peacemakers as a result of the conflict, as the "Caucasian Knot" has already reported, made 74 persons, and over 150 persons were wounded.

"Soldiers Lalaev and Naniishvili were found at their actual residence in Russia," said the General.

Thus, as the "Gazeta.Ru" writes with reference to Mr Kirillin, as of today, the Russian army regards Senior Sergeant-Contractor Ledzhiev and Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Koventsov, commander of Russian bomber Tu-22M3, shot down in the first days of the war, as missing persons after the events of August 2008.

The DNA assay of the latter has been already sent to Georgia for identification, as the "Infox.ru" reports.

Earlier, thanks to the DNA examination, the remains of another missing person - contract serviceman named Pasko - were identified. However, his father would not recognize the results of this examination; that is why his son is still registered as missing.
