Rostov Region: high water brings threats

In the Rostov Region, spring high water continues; in many districts the water level is critical; homes are flooded in a number of dwelling settlements.

Residents of Veshenskaya village lived in emergency state for several days. Since March 20, the threat of flooding is being liquidated; water was pumped out of cellars and houses located in the village lowland. The water level in some houses was 10 centimetres above the floor.

In the Sholokhov District the Chornaya River overflowed the banks and made a real threat to flood 102 houses. In the Kruzhilin rural settlement partial evacuation of people was undertaken. Also, a tense situation is in the Sovietskiy District, where the water level in the Kurtlak River exceeded the critical mark by 1.5 meters.

Rescuers have disseminated an emergency warning in the Obliv District of the Rostov Region. Here, flooding of lowlands, washout of intra-settlement roads and river banks, breaks of electric mains and communications, violations in work of transport and bridge scouring are possible, as the "Don-TR" TV Company reports.

The present high water was caused by plentiful precipitations loss of deposits and river blockage accumulated during winter, the "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Rostov" writes.
