"Yalta Initiative for Peace in Chechnya" announces new deadline for "Peace Prize" competition applications

The Coalition of Chechen and Russian Non-Government Organizations "Yalta Initiative for Peace in Chechnya" announces that the deadline for the "Peace Prize" competition has been put off. Is has been done since not all those who wanted to send in their applications and nominate themselves for getting the prize had time to do. The new deadline for applications is December 15. The ceremony of rewarding two winners will be held in Moscow on January 29, 2004.

  • Court releases Malgobek law enforcers accused of extortion

    Three policemen from Ingushetia, accused of using violence against a detainee and extortion, have been released. The Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia has explained that the period specified by law for the preliminary investigation had expired and their further detention is illegal.
