Armenian authorities intend to start reforms promised to CE in April

The first steps aimed at introducing the reforms promised to the Council of Europe will be implemented by the Armenian authorities even before the April session of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly. This has been announced by David Arutyunyan, head of the Armenian delegation in PACE.

While commenting on the results of the sitting of the PACE Committee on Monitoring which took place on March 17 to discuss the schedule of reforms suggested by the Armenian authorities, the head of the delegation has stated that the country authorities undertake to reform a number of spheres before the end of the current year, reports the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to him, it is planned that, after the start of the reforms promised by Armenia, co-rapporteurs of the PACE Committee on Monitoring will arrive to Yerevan in order to discus the reforms there.

David Arutyunyan has informed the journalists that the Armenian authorities undertake to conduct the reform of the election system before the year end. As regards amendments to the law "On Meetings, Marches and Demonstrations", the head of Armenian delegation in PACE has noted that a concept of appealing against the acts of policemen has been prepared.

The concept has been submitted for consideration of the Council of Europe experts who are expected to give their opinion within one month. According to Arutyunyan, it is effectively preparation of a new law on the freedom of assembly, the Armenian party will submit the schedule of its drafting before the April session of PACE.

Regarding the possibility of participation of the "А1+" TV Company in the tender for allocation of radio frequencies, David Arutyunyan has assured that the tender, as was planned earlier, will take place in July.
