Parliament of Catalonia recognizes Armenians' genocide

As reported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Armenia, the legislative body of the Autonomous Community Catalonia has unanimously voted for recognition of Armenians' genocide in 1915 in the Ottoman Empire.

The population of the Autonomous Community Catalonia with its capital Barcelona makes over seven million. It includes four provinces of Spain: Barcelona, Tarragona, Liejda and Girona.

The Parliament of Sweden plans to discuss the issue of Armenians' genocide on March 17.

As of today, the Armenians' genocide has been recognized by 21 countries, among them: Canada, Argentina, Switzerland, Russia, Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia, Netherlands, Uruguay, Greece, Cyprus, Vatican and others. The genocide was also recognized by 44 US states; and school history textbooks in these states contain chapters about Armenians' genocide.

    The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has begun considering the lawsuit lodged by Murat Khokonov, Professor of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU), concerning his illegal dismissal. The SC has demanded from KBSU bosses the documents confirming the legality of professor's dismissal.
