In Azerbaijan, journalists meet relatives of arrested colleagues
On Friday, March 5, the office of the Institute of Reporters' Freedom and Safety of reporters (IRFS) hosted a meeting of journalists with families of arrested journalists Einullah Fatullaev and Ganimat Zakhidov, and of bloggers Adnan Gadjizade and Emin Milli.
The meeting was organized within the action "Elmar Guseinov's decade", dated to the fifth anniversary of the death of the editor-in-chief of the "Monitor" magazine, who was shot dead on March 2, 2005, on the threshold of his apartment.
In the course of the meeting Emin Fatullaev, Einullah's father, said that he worried for safety of his son. Ayanda Mursalieva, Zakhidov's wife, also expressed concern about safety of the arrested journalists and bloggers.
At the same time, prisoners' relatives noted that they were not going to beg for pardon. "Our children did not commit the incriminated offences. They are innocent also we hope they will be released," said Adnan Gadjizade's father.
In the end of the meeting, an appeal was adopted to international organizations asking for help in releasing imprisoned journalists and bloggers.
