Schools teachers in several districts of Chechnya complain of salary delays
Schools teachers of several districts of the Chechen Republic see no salaries for two months already. The issue was discussed on March 11 in Grozny at a sitting with participation of the head of the Ministry of Education, city and regional departments of education and school directors. The authorities promise to solve the problem in the near future.
"This year we've got no salary yet. In January, they promised to pay salaries together with the February one, but nothing happened yet. District bosses accuse the Ministry of Education, while the latter, in its turn, puts the guilt on heads of regional departments of education who failed to timely register educational establishments as legal entities," a teacher of the school located in the regional centre Nozhai-Yurt said in his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
As reported by the Ministry, teachers' salary delays in January and February were observed not only in the Nozhai-Yurt, but also in the Itum-Kalin, Shatoi and Vedeno District of the republic (all of them are in the mountainous part of Chechnya). The reason is, in the opinion of the Ministry, in irresponsible attitude of heads of departments of education in these districts to their direct duties.
"The point is that from January 1 the functions of centralized accounts departments of district departments of education were delivered directly to educational establishments," a source in the Ministry said. "However, first of all, because of shortage of the required number of duly qualified accountants and late drawing up of respective documents by regional departments of education, schools in four mountainous districts saw delays of salaries."
According to his story, the issue was discussed on March 11 in Grozny at a sitting with participation of the bosses from the Ministry of Education, city and regional departments of education and school directors. "The problem will be solved in the near future," said the source.
