Beaten human rights defender Karastelyov is better
The health condition of Vadim Karastelyov, a human rights activist from Novorossisk and Alexei Dymovskiy's official representative, who was beaten on February 27, is now better; however, for about a week no investigatory actions with him will be possible. This was stated by Marina Dubrovina, Mr Karastelyov's advocate, who visited him in the Novorossisk city hospital.
"Vadim's state of health is now better than when he was brought there. His preliminary diagnosis is brain concussion. It is not known what the problem is with his right eye: it was swollen; and he could hardly see with it. Now, it looks like recovering, but the situation is still 'boundary'," Marina told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Under preliminary information, Vadim has no fractures, but the proper treatment will only start today, after detailed examination.
Now, for security reasons, a militiaman is day and night near Karastelyov; however, the human rights activist is kept in an ordinary six-bed ward.
