Authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh plan to launch airport this autumn

Construction of the Stepanakert Airport continues in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR). Anait Vardanyan, Minister of Town-Planning, has noted that construction goes on at a high rate, and by October 2010 the Airport will receive first passengers.

The civil works are conducted by the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Horizon Trade".

According to Atsrun Sergoyan, Chief Engineer of the Company, the most advanced construction methods are used in airport construction; the quality of works is strictly supervised.

In early February, a sitting was held by President of the NKR on the issues of development of the republic's Air Code.

"The airport has not only vital but also political value for the republic, as it will promote strengthening of the statehood and improvement of the wellbeing of the population," Mr President has noted.

It is planned that flights Yerevan-Stepanakert will be carried out by the new airline "Artsakhavia".
