Head of Georgian MFA submits documents to give up Russian citizenship

Grigol Vashadze, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, has submitted to the embassy of Switzerland, which is representing Russia's interests in Tbilisi, documents confirming his refusal from Russian citizenship.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2009 Grigol Vashadze filed an application to the President of Russia on his refusal from Russian citizenship and sent his Russian passport to Moscow. However, as it was then stated by the Russian MFA, the Minister's application was to be considered in the order stipulated by the law.

Now, as the Georgia's MFA has stated, "all bureaucratic procedures on quitting the Russian citizenship are over, and according to Russian legislation, Russian authorities should satisfy the Vashadze's request", the "Interfax" reports.
