Authorities fail to fix water supply to Dagestan capital

In Makhachkala, after the failure of the pump station on February 4, water is still absent in many houses, while communal services reload responsibility from one structure onto the other.

Residents of Nos. 17, 19 and 21 in the Engelsa Street complained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that problems with water supply are permanent, and this time they have no water for more than a week.

"We've addressed wherever possible - nobody wants to help. How should we wash and cook? Would they like us to block the road again in demand of water?" a resident Patimat by name said.

Managing Company No. 10, in charge of servicing these houses, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the pump had failed, and - naturally - the pressure is not enough. When asked about who should repair the pump, the answer followed: the "Makhachkalavodokanal" should.

However, at the OJSC "Makhachkalavodokanal", the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was assured that servicing of pumps had been handed over to managing companies, while they had plenty of other duties, apart from fixing pumps.
