In Ingushetia, power agents make photos of drivers' documents

Today in Nazran, agents of the DFSB for Ingushetia and the STSI (State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia, also known as "GIBDD") are inspecting motor vehicles because a terror threat. In the opinion of Magomed Mutsolgov, a well-known Ingush human rights activist and expert of the office of Russian Ombudsman, who was exposed to such procedure, power agents are exceeding their powers and break the Russian legislation.

It became known to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent from a source in law enforcement bodies that information arrived to power agencies about possible mining of the Ingush Republic's Hospital. However, there are no confirmed data about announcement of the CTO regime in the area of the Hospital.

Nevertheless, as Mr Mutsolgov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the area of the Hospital was cordoned by power agents, who checked all the cars and drivers' personal papers. The checked documents were photographed by agents, while local militiamen and STSI workers did not take part in the checks.

"I'm indignant," Mutsolgov said. "All the power agents are in masks. Nobody shows their IDs, and STSI workers don't present their police badges."

"Most revolting is that power agents made photos of driving licences and their owners. Tell me, is there a law prescribing to film personal data of people and their faces? I understand check of documents and examination of the car. But the driving licence contains his or her address, for example. Where is the guarantee that this data and photos cannot then get into culprits' hands and used against you?" he asked.
