Begeev's relatives assert that MIA of Dagestan failed to guarantee his safety

The wife and sister of Rumil Begeev, who ran away from under guards in Derbent, failed to receive the guarantees of law observance from law enforcers in exchange of his surrender. The MIA states the opposite.

According to the press service of the MIA of Dagestan, on January 22, militiamen detained Begeev, who was suspected of links with the extremist underground, and put him into their van; however, at that moment a Lada-Priora car ran into the militia UAZ van; the ice-slick was the reason.

According to MIA's version, as a result of the accident, militiamen were thrown out of the van, and the detainee, having snatched a service pistol out of the OMON (special militia) fighter, who was on the ground), made 4 shots, shot dead another OMON fighter and disappeared.

Magomed Khanmagomedov, a journalist of the "Chernovik" newspaper, said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, with reference to his own sources in power agencies, that Rumil Begeev did not kill the perished OMON fighter.

"When he was just walking along, power agents jumped out of the car, grasped him and began pushing to the back seat. A fight burst out, and since Begeev resisted, armed officers began beating him. When one of them tried to strike him on the head with a pistol handle, Begeev put out his arm, and a shot from the pistol occasionally happened. The bullet killed another OMON fighter, while Begeev managed to run away," Mr Khanmagomedov described the details of the incident.

Emma Begeeva, Rumil's sister, says that they tried to kidnap his brother not for the first time. "He escaped because he knew, once he gets there, he'll never get out alive," she believes.

Nasiba Asvarova, Begeev's wife says that nobody in law enforcement bodies gave any guarantee that should her husband surrender, all the legal procedures will be observed in his respect.
