Terrorist blows himself up at STSI building in Makhachkala
Today in the morning in Makhachkala, a terrorist-suicide bomber in a car tried to ram through the gate of the battalion of the city State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (STSI, also known as GIBDD), where at that time road policemen gathered before going to their posts. However, at the last moment, at the very entrance, the blow was taken by a special fire team (SFT). Its members rammed the terrorist's car by their UAZ minivan and blew up together with the suicide bomber.
The power of the explosion made about 100 kilos in trotyl equivalent. The accident killed 5 militiamen, another one died from heavy wounds at the republic's orthopaedic-traumatologic centre. Nineteen persons, including civilians, were injured.
The explosion damaged about 100 personal and service automobiles and broke windows in houses and industrial buildings located 200 meters around. The bomb made a crater three meters wide and one meter deep, as reported by the "RBC".
President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev, as his press secretary Natalia Timakova reports, has instructed Rashid Nurgaliev, Russian Interior Minister, "to render the necessary help to the victims of the terror act and casualties' families."
The "Interfax" adds that apart from the material aid to families and victims, funds will be allotted for purchase of new automobiles for the STSI department. This order was conveyed to the government of Dagestan by President Mukhu Aliev at today's operative meeting.
"DFSB: militants' "cashbook" found on leader of underground in Dagestan", "HRC "Memorial": another kidnapping in Dagestan", "Mukhu Aliev: 150 militants liquidated this year in Dagestan".
