Deputies of Parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria blamed Chechens themselves for beating of Chechen refugees

The question of the beating of Chechen young people in Kabardino-Balkaria was considered at a regular meeting of the Republican Council of the Parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria. Deputies expressed the opinion that Chechen refugees themselves were to blame to some extent for what happened. "The guests themselves are to blame as they cannot "behave suitably in a strange society". This evaluation was given by Speaker of the Parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria Zaurbi Nakhushev and some deputies.

Meanwhile, some other deputies believe the federal center is also to blame for the beating of Chechen young people in Kabardino-Balkaria as it disregards problems of Chechen refugees in the other regions of the Northern Caucasus.

Members of the Chechen representative office in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria said deputies' pronouncements were "expected" and expressed the opinion that the authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria did not want to recognize aggressive spirits of young people in the republic caused by the complex social and economic situation. "It is easier to lay the blame on the Chechens, who are to blame everywhere and for everything".
