Poland to consider the stay in the country of Georgian and Chechen refugees who tried to illegally get to Germany

The refugees from Chechnya and Georgia, who tried to get to Germany from the territory of Poland, were placed for the night in the settlement of the frontier guards; and today they will be returned to the refugee centres, where their further stay in the territory of Poland will be decided on the individual basis. This was reported by Polish journalist Augustina, who cooperates with the newspaper "Gazeta Wyborcza".

Let us remind you that on December 15 about 230 refugees from Georgia and Russia, residents of Chechnya and Ingushetia among them, tried to take a train, without tickets, and get to Strasbourg aiming to complain to the European Court for Human Rights of bad living conditions in refugee centres.

"Most of them were from the centre in Radom. They were stopped in the city of Legnica, the last big city before the border, some 100 kilometres away from it," the Polish journalist told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, in Legnica the railway securities from police "Strazh" (Guard) stopped these people, as they had no tickets. "However, people would not surrender: they went out to the track and blocked the train. Then, they said that in Poland they have very bad conditions, and allegedly on some holiday 'Day of Peace' they wanted to protest against their bad conditions of stay in Poland," said Augustina.

She noted that pregnant women were among the refugees, many children and elderly persons. Their negotiations with the Polish police lasted for several hours.

According to her story, many Caucasian refugees in Poland have no real grounds for receiving the status of refugees, while the procedure of considering their petitions lasts for very long time.

She added that among the refugees there were many Georgians and Georgian Kurds. After two Kurds were granted the status of refugees in Poland last year, many Kurds have appeared there.
