Residents of Dagestan ask Mukhu Aliev to protect young people from "debauch and cruelty" in mass media

Today, Khadizhat Shikhalieva, chair of the "Muslimat" Society, and a group of residents of Novy Kyakhulai village, Leninsliy District of the city of Makhachkala, and of Sergokala settlement, Sergokalin District, have addressed President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev with a request to protect children, according to the Law "On Personal and Public Morals in the Republic of Dagestan", against the fatal influence of morals degradation as covered by media.

One of the signatories - Ayub Dibirov - told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that today Dagestan is growing "an immoral generation notable for lack of culture and patriotism."

"Media, first of all television, are also guilty: among other things, all TV programmes are interrupted by the ads with a necessary direct or indirect sexual component," Mr Dibirov was indignant.

According to his story, officials state that Dagestan sees the growth in incidence of AIDS, gonorrhoea, syphilis and other venereal diseases; however, "the do nothing to remedy the situation."

Dibirov also said that a sauna works in the territory of School No. 18 in Makhachkala, where visitors are provided with a range of sexual services. "My friend took his daughter away from that school, as neither school managers nor bureaucrats from the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Dagestan fail to react to this beastliness," he has added.

Ayub Dibirov told about his plans to found a public association for defending the morals of the residents of the republic.

The school managers told the correspondent that "people just take bath in the sauna located in the school basement, which was granted into rent," while the press service of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Dagestan refused to give any comments.

Ahmed Azizov, a deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan said that he is also ready to put his signature under the appeal.
