Public Council under Krasnodar Territory's Department of Penalty Execution was first established in Russia's south

The Public Council under the head of Krasnodar Territory's Department of Penalty Execution for issues concerned with functioning of the criminal execution system in the region was first established in the south of Russia on October 7.

As it was reported at the Novorossiysk Committee for Human Rights, the establishment of such Councils was prescribed in a July order of Minister of Justice Yuri Chayka. The new structure is created with the purpose of coordinating actions of the state and public and religious organizations so that to use their potential for a jail system reform.

Interested parties were invited to the Council. They are the Commissioners for the Child's Rights and for Human Rights, representatives of the Orthodox Church, social protection and education officials. Pubic organizations that have been working with convicts for a long time, namely the Krasnodar Human Rights Center, "School of Peace", "Childhood World", and Kuban Youth Union, also became members of the Council.
