All chief physicians in Grozny are put off-staff

All the chief physicians of medical establishments in the capital of Chechnya will have to pass re-attestation in the near future; and on the outcomes thereof decisions will be made on their service match. This decision was made by the authorities after on December 7 the city Mayor Muslim Khuchiev checked the first aid station.

The Mayor's visit to the facility was caused by its poor operation. Mr Khuchiev said that he himself had tried to call an ambulance from four mobile phones for 20 minutes and could not get at. Then, the Mayor came to the station and told the personnel about dismissal of their boss, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

As reported by a source in the Mayoralty of Grozny, the city authorities made repeated warnings to the chief physician and employees of the facility about numerous complaints from the population. The source said that "they were hinted that the situation should be remedied, but they gave no reaction in any way."

As stated by Shakhid Akhmadov, Minister of Public Health of the Chechen Republic, at the meeting at the Department of Public Health of the city of Grozny, held together with the Mayor, that now, after "transfer of practically all treatment-and-prophylactic establishments into the municipal ownership," chief physicians will bear personal responsibility for every their employee and everything done in their establishments.

The local population, basically, supports these actions of the authorities.
