Conflict-coverage school opened in Georgia

Georgian journalists will now be able to receive theoretical and practical knowledge on how to properly cover conflicts and how to behave in extreme situations. These subjects will be taught at a special school.

The first specialized training session will be held on December 6-13 in the territory of the mountain training school in Suchkher for six TV groups engaged in covering conflicts. In the course of training, journalists will get the necessary knowledge of proper conflict-coverage. The organizers plan practical training to teach them how to work in crisis situations.

The school of conflict-coverage will also teach the issues of civil safety and rendering of first medical aid. A psychologist will be invited to train journalists to specific skills for working in critical situations.

The authors of the idea are the Institute of Covering War and Peace and the Ministry of Defence of Georgia. The project is funded by the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
