Georgia: health condition of hunger-striker Tsotne Gamsakhurdia gets worse

The health condition of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, son of the first President of Georgia, who is on the 10th day of his hunger strike in protest against his arrest, is now grave. This was stated by his advocate Keti Bekauri, who has noted that her client is in a separate cell under doctor's supervision.

As the "Georgia Online" reports with reference to Ms Bekauri, Tsotne goes on protesting against his arrest, asserting that he is innocent. The advocate is going to address the Tbilisi City Court with a petition to revise the freedom deprivation measure.

On November 5, the appeal court rejected the appeal on Gamsakhurdia's case and upheld the decision of the first instance.

Meanwhile, on November 4, a special committee was set up for lobbying the release of the son of the first president, which includes lawyers, clergymen and members of the government of the first president of Georgia. The committee is going "to use the best efforts not to admit Tsotne Gamsakhurdia to become a hostage of Saakashvili's regime," as reported by the website "Our Abkhazia".
