Evkurov reports solving terror act at Nazran ROVD building

President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov said about resolution of a number of resonant crimes committed in his republic. Among them, according to Mr Evkurov, the attempt on him, the terror act at the building of the ROVD (District Interior Unit) in Nazran and the murder of the Deputy Chair of the republic's Supreme Court.

"Such crimes as the attempt on me in June this year, terror act at the ROVD building in Nazran, murder of Deputy Chair of the Supreme Court and some other grave and resonant crimes and terror acts can be regarded actually solved," said Mr Evkurov.

According to his story, the majority of organizers and executors of these crimes were killed at the attempt to detain them; some criminals were detained, as reported by the portal "News of Ingushetia".

"Lately, law-enforcement bodies managed to neutralize a number of bandit groupings, involved in many attempts and attacks. Besides, 26 criminals were detained and now give evidences," said Mr Evkurov.

According to his story, the information obtained from the arrested persons allowed confiscating plenty of weapons and preventing several terror acts. The President has also noted that the recent activation of militants in the region is the response to efficient actions of law enforcement bodies, the "Interfax" reports.

Besides, the head of Ingushetia spoke in favour of introduction of death penalty in the Russian Federation. "I'm for death penalty. An intended murder should be liquidated - there's no other remedy," the "Gazeta Gzt.Ru" quotes Evkurov as saying.

Let us remind you that the Supreme Court of Russia has addressed the Constitutional court with a request to explain the possibility of application of death penalty starting January 1, 2010, when courts of jury will appear in Chechnya. So far, it is the only region of the Russian Federation, where juries are not used.
