Special commission to supervise demining in Chechnya

It is planned to set up a special commission under the government of the Chechen Republic in charge of supervising the process of demining the territory of the republic. Officials and militaries have come to the conclusion that such body is a must.

"Because of demining issues, huge territories and plenty of various objects and structures remain deserted for many years and are not used to their purpose. Local militaries lack experts and resources for demining the territory of Chechnya, since these issues are in the competence of supreme command," a spokesman of the local Ministry for Emergencies has depicted the problem to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The would-be demining commission will coordinate the work of all the departments and establishments engaged in demining the territory of the republic.
