A presentation of the new book "Here Live People. Chechnya: the Chronicle of Violence. Part 1 - July-December 2000", which has been published by the Human Rights Center "Memorial", is to be held at the Institute of Press Development at 14:00, October 8, 2003.

U. Baisayev (a member of the Human Rights Center "Memorial", Nazran, an author of the book), D. Grushkin (a member of the Human Rights Center "Memorial", Moscow, an author of the book), O. Orlov (council chairman of the Human Rights Center "Memorial"), V. Shenderovich (a writer and publicist) will be participants in the presentation.

"Here Live People..." is the firs book in the series devoted to the chronicle description of events in the Chechen Republic. The interest of the book authors was only in one aspect of those events. This aspect is violence (in the large sense of the word) against a man. When the book was being written, the main source of information for it was the "Chronicle of Violence in the Chechen Republic", which has been issued by the Human Rights Center "Memorial" since the early summer of 2000.
