Mikhalchenko: murdered Maksharip Aushev kept stating that his kidnapping was not investigated

After the incident with a failed kidnapping of Maksharip Aushev by unidentified power agents at the entrance to Nazran, he was shadowed by special services. This was reported to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Lydia Mikhalchenko, editor of the website "Ingushetiyaru.org". According to her story, it was Aushev who had helped the film crew of the REN-TV to safely leave the republic, when they had problems with people of the former president of Ingushetia Murat Zyazikov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 25 in the Federal Motorway "Kavkaz" Aushev was shelled by unidentified persons from a passing-by car. The oppositionist died in place.

"Maksharip told me about what happened after his failed kidnapping. I then wrote to him asking not to worry, as usually after such attempt the person is left alone for a long time; now I regret that I wrote it," Ms Mikhalchenko said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"I then asked about the course of investigating his kidnapping attempt. He answered: 'Oh, what are you taking about! What investigation, if such things happen.' And he told me about an episode. He was chased by some car for a long time; he drove to a road police post and asked militiamen: 'Stop and check them, they're shadowing me'," said Lydia.

According to her story, the strange car was stopped, and the people were driven out of it. Maksharip had thought that they were some power agents. "But instead of answering militiamen's questions, they opened fire and wounded a militiaman in his leg. Then, they left. And when Maksharip with the militiamen tried to file an application about the incident, they learnt that the militiaman's wound had been registered as "an occasional shot," Ms Mikhalchenko continued.

According to her story, Maksharip had no hope that the attempt of his kidnapping on September 15 would ever be investigated. "He told me: 'There's no hope.' I then asked him: 'Is there any possibility to ensure your safety?'; he couldn't answer anything," she now recollects.
