Several dozens illegally detained workers liberated in Makhachkala
In the capital of Dagestan, 30 persons, who were illegally kept at two brick-works, are now free.
Three runaways from one of the factories, who had been working there for half a year, came to the Prosecutor's Office and complained that the factory "owners" took away their passports, paid no salary, did not let outside the territory of the enterprise and severely beat those, whom they found guilty.
The workers of the Prosecutor's Office made spot-checks at several factories located between Makhachkala and Caspisk. As a result, 30 persons, who were in fact in the position of slaves, were liberated. Most of them were residents of the Saratov and Moscow Regions who came to Dagestan under advertisements about "highly paid work", as reported by the "Gazeta.Ru" Agency.
One of the runaways said that he had twice escaped from his "masters", but every time militia caught him and returned to the factory for remuneration. Now, the investigation is underway, as the "Echo Moskvy" Radio reports.
