Oleg Shoshin, former detective of Moscow GUVD, evidences in Politkovskaya's case

A new suspect in the murder case of Anna Politkovskaya, journalist of the "Novaya Gazeta", Oleg Shoshin, former employee of the Operative Division of the GUVD (City Interior Department) of Moscow, told about secret links between Dmitri Pavlyuchenkov, the main witness of the prosecution, and defendant Sergey Hadzhikurbanov, ex-worker of the Moscow UBOP (Organized Crime Counteracting Department).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that possible appearance of new figurants in the journalist's murder case became known a week ago. The information was promulgated by the edition named "Tvoy Den" (Your Say).

Shoshin, 35, who confessed that shadowed Politkovskaya before the murder, was already interrogated by inspectors. By the moment of detention for murdering Baku businessman in Lyubertsy, Shoshin had already figured as a witness in Politkovskaya's case, the "Life.ru" reports.

"When we marked the anniversary of Anna Politkovskaya's death, very strange information appeared that two new persons involved in her murder were found: a certain Oleg Shoshin, a worker of the shadowing group, where Pavlyuchenkov was the boss, and a certain Chervonya Ogly, a drug-dealer and bandit," Yulia Latynina said on October 10 in the programme "Access Code" on air of the "Echo Moskvy" Radio. "I should note that this all appeared in the 'Tvoy Den' newspaper on the anniversary of Anna's death. It was - which is absolutely unbelievable - broadcast by the 'Vesti' with reference to unofficial sources. I can't imagine the 'Vesti' TV Channel referring to unofficial sources. I should say that all this, at least to the extent the 'Novaya Gazeta' is aware, is a complete lie."

Ms Latynina believes that it was an information leakage from Sergey Hadzhikurbanov's advocate. "The point is that Shoshin and Chervonya Ogly, who are absolute bandits by themselves, already caught for their other banditism, and who had been surely used by all that gang, which included both Hadzhikurbanov and the main witness Pavlyuchenkov, in a number of crimes; these two persons are now evidencing against this Sergey Hadzhikurbanov. I want to put a special warning: 'Be careful - lies', as during the whole process around Anna Politkovskaya's possible murderers we see that these persons are using the public interest to the process in their own interests," the journalist said.

"I can't imagine, what size of influence and what rank of defenders should Sergey Hadzhikurbanov, a modest operative agent of the UBOP, suspected organizer and killer of Anna Politkovskaya, have, that compromising the evidences made against him is broadcast by the second Russian channel with reference to unofficial sources," Ms Latynina has emphasized.
