In Baku, court again refuses to bail bloggers out

Today, the Sabail District Court of the capital of Azerbaijan continued, under presidency of Judge Araz Guseinov, the judicial hearings on the case of young bloggers Adnan Gadjizade and Emin Milli, accused of hooliganism and inflicting physical injuries. By the decision of the court they were left in custody.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that at the beginning of the session advocate Isakhan Ashurov moved a repeated petition on changing their custody for release on bail, asking the court to act fairly.

"We want to ensure justice here. Otherwise, it will be restored at the European Court on Human Rights," the advocate has emphasized.

However, the state prosecutor Dzheikhun Kazymov voiced against, explaining that the defence "has no new circumstances and arguments."

After a short consultation, the court denied the petition of the defence.

Then, the process listened to forensic medical expert Medzhid Mamedov. However, while answering advocates' questions he could not describe precisely what traumas had been inflicted by the bloggers to Vusal Mamedov and Babek Guseinov (the victims in the case, allegedly beaten by Milli and Gadjizade).

The defence asked the court to hear to a group of witnesses; however, the court has agreed to admit only one witness into the courtroom. Reshadat Akhundov said that the bloggers themselves were first to be beaten, and that they were first to address the police.

Advocate Isakhan Ashurov demanded that the victims should be present at the session, as the defence has questions to them. The Judge asked the victims' representative Zaur Ibadov to ensure their appearance at the next session to be held on October 9 at 3:00 p.m.

Dozens of young men, who came to support the bloggers, like at the previous judicial sessions, again saw them off shouting: "One wish, one aim - freedom!", "Emin!" and "Adnan!"
