Policemen evidence at bloggers' trial in Azerbaijan

Today, the Sabail District Court of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, chaired by Judge Araz Guseinov, continued its hearings on the case of young bloggers - Adnan Gadjizade and Emin Milli, accused in hooliganism and inflicting bodily injuries. Witnesses went on evidencing.

The correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" reports that none of the two victims (Babek Guseinov and Vyusal Mamedov) has appeared. Only Zaur Ibadov, advocate of one of them, was present.

One of the witnesses - Zakhid Dashdamirov, an employee of the post-patrol police, said that he was on duty near the restaurant "Lebanon", when they were called by a security of the car park and informed about the fight. In their police car they brought the persons now tried and one more young man to the police station.

According to the policeman, Gadjizade's nose was bleeding, and Milli had a cut on his leg. Dashdamirov has admitted that he did not see other victims.

At these words, Milli addressed the policeman and asked him to stop lying, because they came with Gadjizade to the police by themselves, and nobody brought him there in a car.

Policeman Eldar Gasymov has stated that he confirms his evidences given during the preliminary investigation. He failed to give any reasonable explanation why the police gave no medical aid to Gadjizade and Milli.

Witness Parviz Ataev, who was in the restaurant together with Milli and Gadjizade, also told about the events of that day.

"We were discussed the issues of youth's education. Suddenly Vyusal came up to Emin and said harshly 'What are you saying?', and Babek Guseinov called names. Then Vyusal struck Emin with his head, and Adnan - with his fist. Babek also kicked the table over," said the witness.

One more young man - Orkhan Gafarzade, who also was on that day with Emin and Adnan, has practically repeated the Ataev's evidence.

The question of advocate of Elton Guliev, whether the defendants had opposed the attackers, was negatively replied by both young men.

At today's hearing, the defendants, unlike previous sessions, were not handcuffed. Additional seats were provided in the courtroom, but still it was not enough.
