SC of Dagestan to pass its decision on attempt on deputy Isaev on September 30

Later this week, on September 30, the Supreme Court of Dagestan plans to pass its verdict on the case of Mukhtar Agaev, officer of the Dagestan Department of the Federal Service of the Russian Federation on Drug Circulation, accused of forming an IAF and an attempt on Shamil Isaev, a deputy of the National Assembly of Dagestan. The defendant will be given his last plea on September 29.

The prosecution sees the basic motive of Agaev's involvement in the charges presented in the fact of his meeting with Shamil Gasanov, one of the leaders of IAFs, who had been in search and then killed in a special operation in Makhachkala in 2007. Mukhtar Agaev rejects his guilt.

"I've worked for long in law enforcement bodies. An order to kill is made through mediators; the customer and the gunman never meet. Moreover, in the presence of witnesses and under the initiative of the killer," Mukhtar Agaev said to the court.

According to Agaev, he didn't know whom he was to meet.

At the court session, where witnesses were heard, Gadjimurad Kamalov, director of the LLC "Freedom of Speech", confirmed that defendant Agaev told him that he had a meeting with suspect Gasanov. According to Kamalov, the talk could be about the variants of Gasanov's quitting the underground and rehabilitation measured to this end.

To the question of the judge, whether Agaev had had any motives to organize an attempt on deputy Isaev, Gadjimurad Kamalov answered that there were no motives. He added that Mukhtar Agaev was not only Isaev's fellow villager, but also a close friend and a schoolmate of his younger brother.

The judge asked, whether Agaev called residents of Sogratl to armed rebellion.

"It's complete absurdity, only an insane person can state like this," Kamalov answered.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the relatives and friends of the accused Lieutenant Colonel Mukhtar Agaev relate the criminal prosecution organized against him with his participation in the work of the Foundation "Sogratl Society", which criticised the work of Dagestan militia.
