President of Ingushetia: Prigorodny residents should be brought back to their houses

Today, there is a real opportunity to return all the Ingushes from the Prigorodny District back to their houses, as stated by President of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov, who explained his attitude to the problem of this district - a part of North Ossetia.

"Many blame me for not addressing the problem of the Prigorodny District. Some 'hotheads' even assert that I've sold the district. Should I've moved all Ingushes out of there, then, they'd have grounds to accuse me. On the contrary, I want to bring all the Ingushes back to their homes," said Mr Evkurov.

"Yes, I could strike my fist on a table and say: Prigorodny is our district, but it this case nothing would move for other 17 years," he believes. "Today, there're real chances to return people to their houses, and this is our aim. Besides, we need to support those who live there now."

The President of Ingushetia has also noted the importance of setting up good neighbourhood with the multinational people of North Ossetia, the "Rosbalt" writes.

Earlier, Mr Evkurov said that, in his opinion, the process of returning Ingush refugees to North Ossetia should take no more than two years.
